Inbox: messages & comments

The Inbox is where you handle every incoming conversation for a brand in one place — the direct messages people send you and the comments they leave on your published posts. Open it from Inbox in the sidebar.

Two views: Comments and Messages

The Inbox is a single page with a segmented toggle at the top that flips between two whole views:

View What it shows
Comments Replies and comments on the posts you've published. This is the view the Inbox opens on.
Messages Direct messages (DMs) sent to your connected accounts, grouped as conversations.

The view is remembered in the page URL, so a bookmark or a browser back/forward lands you back on the same one.

Messages needs an admin role

Viewing and replying in the Messages (DMs) view requires an admin role or higher on the brand. Replying to Comments is available to any teammate who has access to the brand. See Roles, permissions & brand access.

Replying to a conversation

Open any conversation to see its full thread and a reply box. You can:

  • Send text, media, or both. Attach images, video, audio, or a PDF alongside your message.
  • Reply to a specific message or comment. Pick a message in the thread to quote it — on the networks that support it, your reply threads under that message on the recipient's side.
  • Retry a failed send. If a reply fails to go out, it's marked failed in the thread with a plain-language reason and a retry action. Buzzator also refreshes an expired connection token and retries once automatically before showing you the error.

Attachment limits

Limit Value
Attachments per message Up to 10
Maximum file size 25 MB each

Meta's 24-hour messaging window

For Instagram and Facebook direct messages, you can send a standard reply only within 24 hours of the person's last message. After that window the platform blocks ordinary replies — the send will fail unless it qualifies for a message tag. This is a Meta rule, not a Buzzator limit.

Speeding up replies

  • AI-drafted replies. Generate a suggested reply written in your brand's voice, drawn from your brand knowledge and the conversation so far. The draft lands in the reply box for you to review and edit before sending — nothing is sent automatically.
  • Canned responses. Save reusable replies with a title, the message content, and an optional shortcut, then insert one into the reply box in a couple of clicks. You can create, edit, and delete them, and Buzzator tracks how often each is used.

Finding and organizing conversations

The Messages view gives you filters, search, and bulk actions:

  • Filter by status, platform, assigned teammate, or priority.
  • Search across message text and handles.
  • Set a status on a conversation — open, pending, resolved, or archived — plus a priority (low, normal, high, urgent), tags, and an assignee.
  • Batch-action up to 100 conversations at once: mark read, archive, change status, or assign.

Real-time delivery

New messages and comments arrive live. Buzzator combines platform webhooks (push) with a live stream to the open page, and falls back to periodic polling if the live connection drops — so the Inbox stays current without a manual refresh. Some networks don't offer webhooks (for example X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, and Bluesky); for those, Buzzator pulls new DMs on a schedule.

Which networks are covered

Coverage differs by network and by view:

Capability Networks
Direct messages (Messages view) Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Slack
Comments (Comments view) The networks that expose a readable comment thread on a published post

Publish-only networks have no thread to read

Some networks let you publish but expose no readable comment thread — for example Twitch, Dribbble, and Tumblr. Their posts don't appear in the Comments view because there's nothing to load. See Platform capabilities for the full breakdown.
