Manual Composer¶
The Manual Composer is where you build a post by hand — pick your platforms, write your own caption, attach and arrange your own media, then save, schedule, or publish. Open it from the composer's Write it your way option (its address is /composer/manual).
Choosing platforms¶
Platforms appear as a row of icons at the top of the composer. The most-used networks sit in the main row; the newer, lower-volume channels (Telegram, Discord, Google Business Profile, WordPress, Dribbble, Slack, Twitch, Tumblr, Kick) are grouped into a second new channels row. Select any icon to add that platform to the post; select it again to remove it. Only platforms your brand can use are shown — an account doesn't have to be connected to draft for it, but you'll need a live connection to publish or schedule.
WordPress can't be mixed with social platforms
WordPress is a long-form blog surface, so it can't share a compose session with social networks. Selecting WordPress clears any social platforms you'd picked (and vice versa) and swaps the editor for the dedicated blog surface. See WordPress blog generation.
Writing your caption¶
You write one caption that all the selected platforms share. As you type, a live counter above the publish buttons shows your character count against the strictest limit among the platforms you picked — for example, selecting X and Pinterest together counts against X's 280, and the count turns red once you're over. Buzzator still lets you keep typing; the per-platform limits are enforced when you publish.
Some platforms — YouTube, Pinterest, Dribbble, and TikTok photo posts — also have their own title field in their Platform Settings panel.
Threads¶
When a selected platform is set to Thread format (X, Threads, Bluesky), the caption area splits into a numbered stack of segment boxes — one per post in the thread. Buzzator splits your text on a blank line (one empty line between paragraphs), so each paragraph becomes its own reply. Every segment has its own attachments and its own character counter against that platform's per-post limit. Use Add post to grow the thread up to the platform's maximum (25 posts on X and Threads), and the small ✕ on a reply removes it, folding its text and media back into the previous post so nothing is lost.
The caption toolbar¶
Below the caption sits a toolbar:

AI caption helpers¶
Improve and Caption from image both target the platform whose settings tab is active (or the first platform you selected) and replace your caption with the result. Platforms with a title field offer the same pair as Title from caption and Title from image.

Attaching and arranging media¶
Attachments appear as a strip of thumbnails under the caption. Each tile lets you:
- Reorder — on desktop, drag a tile to a new position; on touch and with a keyboard, use the on-tile move-left / move-right buttons. Order is the publish order (carousel slide order).
- Remove — the ✕ in the corner.
- Edit — the per-tile Edit menu opens an image in the editor (available on still images that are already saved to your library). See Editing images.
If a file doesn't fit the format of the single platform you've selected — say a video on a photo-only format — the tile shows a red Not allowed badge and an inline note explaining why, so you can swap or remove it before publishing.
Attachment limits depend on the format
Single-item formats — Instagram Post and Reel, TikTok Video, Facebook Single and Reel, LinkedIn Single, Pinterest Single — cap the post at one attachment. To add more, switch that platform's Format to Carousel (or Album / Photo Post). YouTube's attachment is video only — image uploads are rejected, and a video is required to publish. Set formats in each platform's Platform Settings.
Saving, scheduling, and posting¶
Three actions finish the post:
- Save Draft — stores the post as a draft without publishing. Enabled as soon as there's a caption or a piece of media.
- Schedule — the schedule chip stages a date and time (interpreted in your Brand Kit timezone); the primary button then changes to Schedule to confirm. See Scheduling & the Calendar.
- Post — publishes now to every connected platform you selected.
If a selected platform has no live account, or a per-platform rule isn't satisfied, the Post button is disabled and the reason is shown right below the toolbar. Drafts are never blocked this way.
Each save creates a new post
The Manual Composer doesn't autosave as you type, and it creates a new post every time you Save Draft, Schedule, or Post — there's no mid-session draft it keeps updating. Save deliberately when you're ready.
